Life Story for Carole Garlinger


Carole Garlinger

Miss Carole Garlinger, age 75, of Hastings formerly of Nashville passed away Monday, November 20th, 2017 at Magnum Care of Hastings

Carole was born in Hastings, MI on August 31, 1942, the daughter of the late Philip and Phyllis (Long) Garlinger.

She was raised in the Nashville area, and attended local schools graduating from Nashville High School in 1960. She continue her education at Blodgett School of Nursing in Kalamazoo where she graduated as an LPN. Carole loved being a nurse and helping her patients, and further advanced her education at Kellogg Community College where she graduated with high honors as a Registered Nurse. Throughout her career Carole was always learning, and had completed coursework toward her Bachelors of Nursing at Michigan State University.

Carol loved sports, and always enjoyed engaging her nephews with the latest sports "talk". She would spend her free time attending many of the Maple Valley High School games, as well as several Detroit Tigers and Lions events. She was an active member of the Nashville United Methodist Church and gave freely of her nursing talents volunteered every summer as the camp nurse. Carol looked forward to the annual church ministry trip to Red Bird Ministries in the mountains of Kentucky.

Carole is also survived by her two sisters, Nancy (Hugh) Moore, Jenella (Dean) Smith, her sister in-law Charlotte Garlinger, nieces and nephews Eric Hansen, Kathryn (Calvin) Hansen-Downing, Paul (Maureen) Moore, Terrance Moore, Jennifer (Glen) Moore, Steffanie (Glen) Herringer, Jacob (Melanie) Garlinger, Julia (Drabik) Garlinger, Brian (Sabrina) Garlinger, and 18 great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister Janet (Kenneth) Hansen, and brothers Jack & Jerry Garlinger.

Funeral Services will be held at The Nashville United Methodist Church, Nashville, MI, at 11:30 AM on Saturday, November 25th, with Pastor Karen Kinney officiating.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday November 25th, 1 hour prior to the funeral service beginning at 10:00 AM at The Nashville United Methodist Church.

There will be a time of fellowship and luncheon immediately following the funeral service at The Nashville United Methodist Church.

Interment will take place following the luncheon at the Lakeview Cemetery in Nashville, MI.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Nashville United Methodist Church or Doctors Without Boarders.
