Obituary for Carole Pankey
Mrs. Carole Pankey, Age 84 of, Hastings, MI passed away on May 26, 2023, at Clear Stream Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hastings, MI.
Carole was born in Chicago, IL, on July 18, 1938, a daughter of Florence and Ernest Fechtner.
She was raised in Covert MI, and attended local schools in Bangor, completing her education in Kalamazoo.
Carole was a dedicated worker, who began her career in the housekeeping department at Upjohn. She was quickly promoted into the production department, where she served as a Line Attendant before retiring in 1998 with over 25 years of service.
She was married to Mr. Donald Pankey on Dec 20th, 1958, in Covert MI. Carole & Donald made their home together in the Bangor area before relocating to Kalamazoo in 1973 to be closer to their jobs.
Carole enjoyed crochet, knitting and cross stitch and was a talented artist who loved to draw, paint & do embroidery. During the summer months, Carole could be found outdoors working in her flower gardens. She was an amazing cook, who loved to use her talents in the kitchen to prepare meals for her family, especially during the holidays. After retiring, she & Don relocated to Winterhaven Florida where they spent over ten years together enjoying the warm weather.
Carole is survived by her husband Donald, children Lisa (Bryanna) Roberts, Duane, Renee (Ted) Palumbo, 4 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Madison, sister Elaine Voight, Shirley Tripp.
The family will begin receiving visitors on Friday, June 2, at 5:00 PM with a celebration of life service beginning at 5:30 PM at the Daniels Funeral Home‐Hastings. There will be a small luncheon immediately following the service.
