Obituary for Joseph Brooke

Mr. Joseph “Joe” Brooke, Age 60 of, Vermontville, MI passed away on May 11, 2023, at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, MI.

Joe was born in Lansing, MI, on November 17, 1962, the son of the late Ethel and William Brooke.

Joe spent his early childhood in the Lansing area before the family relocated to Vermontville where they established their family farm. He finished his education at Maple Valley High School, graduating in 1980.

After completing his education Joe began working at Racey's Construction, then later with Olmstead Construction. Most recently he was employed at Lime & Gypsum products where he managed a gypsum mine in Northern Michigan.

On June 18, 1988, he married Dawn (Krouse) Brooke in Hastings, MI. at Dawn's parents’ home. Joe and Dawn made their home in Hastings and Nashville areas for a few years before settling on Joe’s family farm in Vermontville where they raised their family together.

Joe loved being outdoors, in his younger years he enjoyed bowhunting and shooting competitive indoor league archery. Most recently, his love of the outdoors was directed toward fishing. With his new boat in tow, Joe enjoyed visiting local lakes, and several Northern Michigan lakes. Joe had an amazing creative nature and loved working with wood. Along with wife Dawn, the couple would create beautiful projects, that many times were given as gifts to family and friends.

Joe is survived by his children Brandon Krouse, Ryan (Kelli) Brooke, Holley Joe Brooke, sisters Mary (David) Malish and Kim (Bill) McCague, brother Tom (Lorna) Brooke, and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Dawn, and his daughter Ashley

Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM at The Daniels Funeral Home Nashville, Conveniently located at 9200 E M 79 Hwy, Nashville, MI.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, May 15, 2023, one hour prior to the funeral service from 10:00 AM 11:00 AM at Daniels Funeral Home Nashville. Immediately following the funeral service guests are invited to a time of fellowship and luncheon at the Vermontville Campground, located at 9396 Sycamore Lane, Vermontville, MI.

The love of Joe’s life was his grandchildren. Those wishing to make a charitable contribution in Joe’s honor may do so at High Point Community Bank to help ensure the further education of his beloved grandchildren.
