Obituary for Loraine Lehman - McCune

Loraine Lehman-McCune, 96, passed away to a better place on March 17, 2023. She was born in Covert, Michigan to Peter and Effie Mae (Borton) Peterson on July 9, 1926.

A devoted homemaker, Loraine enjoyed tending the garden and canning the produce for future meals with family. Loraine was a simple no-nonsense woman who took care of the things she had and maintained a frugal lifestyle.

Loraine was a dedicated employee who spent over 18 years as a cabinet maker with American Woodcraft in Union City. Throughout her working career, she also worked at Michigan Magnetics in Vermontville and in a factory assembling fish lures. Loraine retired in 1995 and moved to the Nashville area to be closer to her family.

Loraine loved to dance, and whenever possible could be found square dancing or two stepping at the Maple Leaf Grange Hall in Nashville. Her passion for dancing carried well into her 90’s sharing her last line dance with her granddaughter at the age of 95.

Loraine is survived by her sons, Loren (Mary) Lehman, Gale W. (Michelle) Lehman - who proudly served in the Vietnam War; stepson, Kenneth (Patricia) McCune; stepdaughter, Gail (Terry) Weber; grandchildren Gina (Gary) Reid, Helena (David) Miller, and Greg (Jacky) Halliwill; 8 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Evert Lehman; her husband of 22 years, Howard McCune; daughter Laura Lee Lehman; brothers Spencer (Evelyn) Peterson, Walter (Lillian) Peterson and Jay Peterson; and stepson, Gary (Anna) McCune.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 01:00 PM 02:00 PM at the Daniels Funeral Home in Hastings.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Daniels Funeral Home - Hastings, with Pastor Pete Kroll officiating.

Guests are invited to remain at The Daniels Funeral Home – Hastings for a time of fellowship and luncheon immediately following Loraine’s funeral service.

Interment will take place privately at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville, MI.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Maple Leaf Grange Hall in Nashville, MI.
