Obituary for Colette K Schipper
Colette Kay Schipper, Age 60 of passed away on January 11, 2023 at Spectrum Health Blodgett in East Grand Rapids, MI due to complications from covid and pneumonia. Colette was born, on July 02, 1962. daughter of Harold G. Schipper & Diane L. Sutherland. Colette spent her early childhood Happily in the Kalamazoo area, before moving to the Hastings area in 1976 where she attended local schools graduating from Hastings High School in 1980. Colette worked several local jobs over the years, and she especially enjoyed working with public. She spent several years at J- Ad Graphics, and during this time met the love of her life Mr. Leo Lamay. Leo & Colette have spent over 19 years together enjoying and loving each other.
Colette loved spending time with her family and friends just hanging out enjoying each other’s company and laughing. During the warmer months, she loved spending a sunny afternoon Kayaking, on local lakes and the Thornapple River With her dearest and closet friends and sisters. Her true passion in life was being “Aunt” to her beloved nieces and only nephew, whom she spoiled rotten whenever she had the opportunity. Colette was a child of the 60's and was connected closely to the culture of the 1960's and was a huge advocate of medical marijuana and its benefits medically and emotionally.
She is survived by her Mother, Diane L Reid, father Harold G. Schipper, sisters Pandora (Paul) Thornton, Stephanie ( Ken) Krebs, Melissa Schipper, Candace McCrackin, Brother Wayne P. Schipper, 4 half siblings, Collin Schipper, Shane Schipper, Sonja (ben) Ruder, Crystal (David)Stephen’s nieces Megan & Jamie, Tamera & Kristie, Nicki,Victoria,Misty, Samantha, Ashlee, & Amanda, Elizabeth, one nephew Tyelor Ray McCrackin, Leo’s son Alex and grandson Jobin. and numerous great nieces & nephews. Not to mention the countless adopted nieces and nephews whom she also loved dearly. Colette was preceded in death by her grandparents Henry (Agnes) Schipper, Nolan (Nellie) Sutherland, brother Harold N .Schipper, stepfather Lyle A Reid, step mother Gayanne M Schipper and brother-in-law Kenneth Ray McCrackin.
There will be a "Hippie Happy Celebration of life"! on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 1-4PM at The Delton Moose Lodge, in Delton MI.
To honor Colette, the family has asked guests to wear Hippie Clothing and bring good vibes.
