Obituary for Max Guy

Max Alton Guy, September 9, 1928 - November 19, 2022

Max grew up in the Nashville, Michigan area and attended Hastings High School. During his senior year he enlisted in the navy. He served in the navy and was stationed in Adak, Alaska from February 19, 1946 until his honorable discharge December 18, 1947. He married the only love of his life, Margurite (Peggy) L. Norris, on October 2, 1948 and remained married for 73 years until Peggy’s passing.

Max and Peggy raised their two children, Craig and Pam, in Woodland, Michigan. They bought a cottage at Middle Lake, Hastings, Michigan, which became their permanent residence in 1969. The grandchildren have fond memories of spending time at the lake with their grandparents. Upon retirement, they moved to Zephyrhills, Florida where they lived their remaining years.

Max worked in management at Keeler Brass Company in Lake Odessa, Michigan, for 35 years (retiring from Grand Rapids). Throughout Max’s life, he enjoyed many activities, such as bowling and golf. Max was a lifetime member of the Moose. He enjoyed playing golf and held memberships at Hastings Country Club, Riverbend, and Silver Oaks golf clubs. He especially enjoyed woodworking and made many crafts. He and Peggy loved to spend time on the dance floor.

Max was predeceased by his wife, Margurite (Peggy) Guy (Norris), parents, Leo and Zoe (Early) Guy, siblings, Wilma (Billie) Basset, and Virgene Hurd. He is survived by his children, Craig Guy and Pam Kihn. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kelly (John) Donlin, Michelle (Steve) Crouch, Christine (Jeff) Molenaar, Trent (Amy) Harvey, and Craig (Heather) Harvey; and great grandchildren, Shane Willett, Andy Donlin, Johnny Munro, Alley Masse, Brittany Molenaar, Evan Molenaar, Abby Harvey, Logan Harvey, and Olivia Harvey; and one great great granddaughter, Skylar Willett.

A memorial service will be held at 1PM on Friday December 2, 2022 at the Daniels Funeral Home - Hastings, conveniently located at 1401 North Broadway, Hastings, MI
