Obituary for Tamara Pennington

Mrs. Tamara Louise Pennington, Age 60 of, Delton, MI passed away on May 19, 2022 at her home in Delton, MI with her family at her side.

Tamara was born in Fremont, MI, on October 2, 1961, a daughter of Walter and Nora (Langley) Bridges.

Her younger years were spent in Charlotte MI, and Marion Ohio, until her family relocated to the North Muskegon area where she completed her education graduating from North Muskegon High School in 1979. Shortly after completing her education, she was married to Mr. Hugh Pennington. Dec 29, 1979 in Muskegon, MI at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

The couple began their lives together in the Charlotte area, then moved to the Potterville and Nashville area for a short time before they moved to Lake Odessa where they raised the family. After Deanna and Gregory graduated, Hugh & Tamara and Mitchel spent some time in Georgia, then returned home after Mitchel graduated in Georgia to be closer to the grandchildren.

Tamara began her working career in a factory in Lake Odessa where learned her love of computers working in the office. When they shut down that factory the government was giving out guaranteed college education to women and she went to college to be a computer programmer. She joined a company that valued her education and experience for the manufacturing industry where she developed, taught and maintained software that was used in the logistics area to keep freight moving during the manufacturing process.

After hurricane Katrina devastated the Southern United States, While living in Georgia Tamara found herself wanting to help in some way. Her unrelenting spirit of giving, led her to join the FEMA disaster relief efforts, by transporting travel trailers from Canada to New Orleans, and other hurricane damaged areas. Tamara found her passion for traveling during this time period and eventually started a business transporting travel trailers all over the United States. Often, she would make the trips by herself, with Hugh following her later in the semi-truck. Over the years Tamara had amassed over 1.7 million miles on one single 06’ Duramax Diesel pickup truck that she used during her transportation career, A 2015 Duramax Diesel that she put over 700,000 miles on and was working on the 2020 Duramax Diesel that she had 200,000 miles on.

After retiring, they enjoyed spending the winter months in Moore Haven Florida, “Glades Resort''. Escaping the cold Northern winters, meant long boat rides on the Okee Ckokee River which could take you all the way into the Gulf of Mexico. One if Tamara’s favorite pastimes while in Florida was visiting family on the golf cart and singing karaoke with friends in the park.

She is survived by her beloved husband Hugh, her mother Nora Bridges her children Deanna (Andy) Rhodes, sons Gregory, & Mitchel Pennington, sisters Michele Fodocry, & Susan (Jim) George, brothers Walt Bridges Jr., Mark (Teresa) Bridges, her beloved grandchildren Jacob Pennington, Andrew Rhodes II, Andrea Rhodes, & Hunter Pennington, several nieces, nephews, and adopted children.

She was preceded in death by her father Walter Bridges.

A Visitation will be held Thursday afternoon from 4-7pm at Daniels Funeral Home in Hastings, MI. Food And Drink welcome. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Friday May 27th at St. Ambrose Catholic Church 11149 Floria Road, Delton, MI.

There will be a time of fellowship and funeral luncheon immediately following the funeral mass at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
