Catherine Jeanette Maurer

Catherine Jeanette Maurer, age 81, of Lansing, MI, formerly of Nashville, passed away Tuesday, May 25th, at Grand Haven Living Center in Lansing, MI

Catherine was born in Marshall, MI on January 14, 1940, a daughter of the late Marian (Shaw) Miller and Newman Shaw.

She was raised in the Nashville area and attended local schools graduating from Nashville High School 1959.

She was the wife of Julius F. Maurer II. The couple were married June 23, 1962 in St. Cyril Catholic Church, Nashville, MI. The couple made their home together on the family farm in Nashville where they raised their family together. They relocated to the Lansing area where Catherine began work at General Motors. She worked faithfully for over 19 years before retiring in 2000. Throughout the years, she was also employed at Thornapple Manor and Michigan Magnetics. She was an avid cook and baker (homemade bread, cookies, pies, and more), loving wife, mom and grandmother. She loved animals, singing in the church choir, watching her husband bowl, and spending time with her family at family events and holidays.

Catherine is survived by

Three sons, Newman (Janice) Maurer, Walter (Sabra) Maurer, Julius (Suzanne) Maurer III and one daughter, Marian Underwood.

Ten grandchildren, John Maurer, Gina Maurer, Christina Maurer, Tabatha North, Chase Hull, Meranda Hull, Merriah Hull, Alex Maurer, Emily Maurer, and Elizabeth Maurer.

Five great- grandchildren, Braiden Maurer, Rowe North, Reid North, Haley Hull,and Hanna Hull.

Also survived by brothers and sisters, William Shaw, Patricia Shaw, Joseph Shaw, Marie Baynton, Nancy Schantz, Marilyn Merchant, James Shaw, and Walter Shaw.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Kersjes, and Norma Walliczek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 29th at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hastings, MI with Father Stephan Philip officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 2-4 PM and again from 6-8 PM with Rosary Service beginning at 7:30 PM on Friday, May 28th at Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville, MI.

Following the funeral service on Saturday, there will be a time of fellowship and luncheon at the Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville, MI.

Interment will take place immediately following the funeral service at The Mount Calvary Cemetery in Hastings, MI
