Obituary for Jeanne ""Grandma Groovy"" Carrigan

Jeanne Marie Carrigan affectionately known as "Grandma Groovy" age 68, of Nashville passed Monday, March 29th, 2021 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus, in Grand Rapids, MI.

Jeanne was born in Lansing, MI on January 4, 1953, the daughter of the late Richard and Mildred (Skinner) Carrigan. She was raised in the Nashville area, and attended local schools graduating from Maple Valley High School in 1971.

In 1974 Jeanne married Mr. Richard Earl Mills in Charlotte, MI. The couple made their home together in the Charlotte, area until Richard passed away unexpectedly in 1978. As a life long resident of the Nashville area, Jeanne worked as a server is several local restaurants including The Eaton Place in Charlotte, Shirley's Chuck wagon & Clay's Dinner Bell in Nashville for several years.

Jeanne was a child of the 70's, and true "flower child". Her love of music and her ability to dance earned her the affectionate nickname "Grandma Groovy"! Her grandchildren always held a very special place in Jeanne's heart and she cherished the time she spent with them. When her children were younger, she enjoyed taking them to Northern Michigan camping at Ludington State Park. During the spring and summer months Jeanne loved being outside working in her flower beds and garden as well as others. You could often find her weeding your flowers when you pulled in your driveway. She enjoyed Antiques and crafting as well.

Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Shilo Mills-Taylor, her son Joshua Huemme, sister Lorna (Tom) Brooke, brothers Dave (Christy) Carrigan, & Dan Carrigan, sister in-law Michele (Ed) Godlewski 6 grandchildren China (Gabe) Shellenbarger, Stone (Casey) Carrigan, Arizona Carrigan, Mercede (Colby) Wilcox, Bailey Dennis and Cody Taylor.. Great grandchildren Noah, Braelyn, Ellinor, Karter, Quincy, and Kobe.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Angelya Carrigan, sister in-law Melanie Pouch.

Funeral service will be held at The Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville, MI, at 11:00 AM on Saturday April 3, 2021 with Pastor Gary Newton officiating.

The family will receive visitors on Friday April 2, 2021 from 5-8 PM at The Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville, MI.

Interment will take place privately at Wilcox Cemetery in Maple Grove Township
