Obituary for Lee G. Montague

Lee Montague

Mr. Lee Montague, age 80, of Hastings passed away Saturday, December 19th, 2020 at his home.

Lee was born in Stockbridge, MI on October 7, 1940, the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Frazer) Montague. He was raised in the Olivet area and attended local schools graduating from Olivet High School in 1958. On August 27, 1958 at the age of 17 Lee joined the United State Navy, where he specialized in Electronics, achieving the rank of ET2 before being honorably discharged on July, 28, 1961.

He was the husband of Mrs. Janiece (Reid) Montague. The couple was married May 20 1960 in Bellevue, MI. and began their lives together on their 40 acre farm in Nashville. Together Lee & Janiece raised their family on the farm, spending over 42 years enjoying the country lifestyle. The farm was a special place, where the entire family would gather.

Lee began his working career as a Electrician at Cornings Inc. in the Albion and Marshall area where he helped maintain the plant which produced Picture Tubes for televisions. He later was employed at Keiper in Battle Creek, and finished his career at the Battle Creek Veterans Hospital.

Northern Michigan was a favorite destination in the fall to enjoy the beauty of Michigan's fall season watching the colors change.

Lee is survived by his beloved wife Janiece, two daughters, Annette (Don) Synder, Susan (Troy Brodock) Montague, two sons Daniel Montague, Dale (Lori) Montague, a brother, Charles Ivan (Jean Luckett) Montague Jr., 8 grandchildren and their spouses and 20 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Montague

Graveside Services were held at The Riverside Cemetery - Bellevue, MI at 1 PM on Tuesday, December 22nd, with Pastor Karen Kinney officiating. Lee was honored with full military honors being provided by the United States Navy and the American Legion Post 45 - Hastings, MI.

Memorial contributions can be made to Spectrum Health Hospice and Palliative Care.
