Obituary for Darren Fisher

Darren Michael Fisher, “Beaker”, passed away on December 1, 2020 at home after a short but well fought series of major health issues. He was 50 years old.
Darren was born on June 18, 1970 in Lansing, Michigan to Michael Jon Fisher and Sylvia June (Hansen) Fisher.
Darren grew up in Nashville and lived there most of his life. He attended Maple Valley Schools. He enlisted into the Army National Guard between his Junior and Senior Years in high school. He enlisted on January 8, 1988 and served until 2010. He served most of his military career with the 119th FA. He deployed with the 182nd to Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2006 until 2008.
Darren married his high school friend, Julie Lynn Sullivan on January 5, 1991. They were married at the time of his passing for 29 years. Darren had a son, Daniel Scott Terpening, before his marriage to Julie. Darren and Julie welcomed their first child Lindsey Noelle in December of 1991, followed by Dylan Jon in 1994, Cassidy Lynn in 1998 and Jared Michael in 2000.
Darren enjoyed the great outdoors. Hunting was a passion of his for most of his life. He loved mowing the yard, splitting wood and working in the garden. In the last few years Darren, Julie and Jared were honored to be campground hosts at Fort Custer Recreation Area in Augusta, Michigan.
Darren loved helping people and was always willing to lend a hand when needed. He was a good friend to many and he had a smile and laugh that were contagious. He always had a story to tell and was quick with a joke.
Darren and Julie have 8 grandchildren who he lovingly referred to as “Papa’s little domestic terrorists”.
He worked many jobs during his life, several factory jobs, truck driving and his last job with with the USPFO in Lansing, Michigan where he worked for about 8 years. After his retirement from the military, he was a reserve officer with the Barry County Sheriffs Department and served proudly on the Nashville Village Council.
Darren was preceded in death by his grandparents Stanley and Violetta Hansen, grandmother Florence Lorenz, Step-father Russell Hoeve, Step-father in law Rick Willie, and Uncles Norval Fisher and Scott Lorenz.
He is survived by his wife Julie Lynn (Sullivan) Fisher; children Daniel (Julia) Terpening, Lindsey (Aaron) Rice, Dylan (Leighanne) Fisher, Cassidy (Carl) Bolinger and Jared Fisher; mother Sylvia Hoeve; father Michael Fisher; mother in-law Sally Willie; father in-law Jon Sullivan; brother Steve (Trina) Fisher; grandchildren Levi, Sawyer, Dylan Jr, Leeland, Nevaeh, Aiden, Ellis and Owen; step-brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews; his beloved dog Harlee Jean and Leopold, and grandpups BJ, Orion, Juno, Pixie and Howie.
Funeral Services will be held at The Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville, MI, at 1 PM on Monday, December 14th, with Pastor Karen Kinney officiating.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday December 13th, from 1-5 PM and again Monday December 14th prior to the funeral service from 11-1 PM at The Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville, MI.
Darren will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in Nashville, MI immediately following the funeral service. His dedication to his country will be acknowledged with full military honors being provided by the United States Army, and the American Legion Post 45 from Hastings, MI.
