Obituary for Coleen Endsley

Coleen May Endsley, age 80, of Hastings passed away Thursday, August 6th, 2020 in the comfort of her home.

Coleen was born in Hastings, MI on December 26, 1939, the daughter of the late Roy and Thelma (Lewis) Wilkins.

She was raised in the Hastings area and attended local schools. Coleen began working at Hastings Manufacturing prior to completing high school. She worked in several different areas of the shop during her 30 years with the company, and officially retired in 1995. At the age of 44, Coleen reinvested in her education and attended night school until proudly receiving her high school diploma in 1984, which she had put on hold while working and raising her family.

In 1957, Coleen married Frank Endsley. The couple made their home in the Hastings area where they raised their family together. After retiring, Frank & Coleen wintered in St. Cloud, Florida where they enjoyed riding their Harley Davidson Motorcycle and spending time in the sunshine with friends.

In her spare time, Coleen enjoyed reading, cooking, collecting Precious Moments figurines, and had been an active member of the Red Hat Society in Hastings for many years. Friends were always very important to Coleen, and she enjoyed visiting Richie's Koffee Shop to catch up with her longstanding friends over a cup of coffee. Coleen's family was always her first priority, and each summer the family cottage on Head Lake became the site for the much-anticipated annual family picnic. During the summer months, Coleen enjoyed spending time riding the Harley Davidson with Frank, traveling all over the United States. Coleen loved country music and owned a vast record collection featuring some of her favorite artists. Coleen was remarkably proud of her family’s military service and put her family’s patriotism on display whenever possible. She even took the time to hang a photo of each family member who has served, or is serving, on the armed forces display at the Walmart in Hastings.

Coleen is survived by her beloved husband Frank, two daughters, Teresa (John) Burdick, Lisa (Jon) Kelmer, three sons Al (Kathy Spitzley) Endsley, Frank (Mary) Endsley, Michael Endsley, 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded by her brothers Russell, Lewis, Harley, Lyle & Earl Wilkins, sister Mary Etta Dimock, and grandson Douglas Endsley.

Graveside Services will be held at Fuller Cemetery at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 12th, with Charles Jensen officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Welcome Corners Church or The American Lung Association.
