Obituary for Richard Vanderhoff

Richard D. Vanderhoff 58 of Nashville Mi passed away on June 24, 2020 at his home. He was born to William and Deloras Vanderhoff on November 29, 1961 in Hastings. He has two children Christopher (Amber) Kitchen of Nashville Mi, Lydia (Rj) Deater of Freeport Mi, two grandchildren Grace Deater and Abel Gardner, one brother Wm " Skip" (Marylin) Vanderhoff of Nashville Mi, one sister Wanda Wright of Nashville Mi and his life long partner Teresa Kitchen of Freeport. He also has a step brother Norm (Joyce) Kenyon and a step sister Susan (Tim) Bishop and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his mother and step father Howard and Deloras Kenyon and his son Christopher Kitchen and daughter Lydia Deater and his two grandchildren Grace Deater and Abel Gardner. He is proceeded in death by his father William Vanderhoff and his grandmother and grandfather Ralph and Grace Walton. After graduation from Hastings High School Richard and his brother Skip and family went out to Oklahoma to work in the oil fields. When they came back in 1984 Richard got hired in to the Barry County Road Commission where he worked there for 25 years. After he left there he worked for Murray's asphalt until he was diagnosed with cancer which took his life. He loved being a truck driver but most of all he loved his family and his grandchildren were his world. He loved classic cars as well. And always found the joy in a good book. He also enjoyed scrapping which his daughter loved to do with him. He loved listening to John Prine, Matalica and the Eagels. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family and friends by his side. He was loved by all and will be missed by so many. Cremation is being taken care of by Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville Michigan. A celebration of life/ memorial service will be held for Richard on July 25th 2020 at Charlton Park pavilion by the lake from 2pm to 5pm.
