Obituary for Duane Davidson

Duane  Davidson

Mr. Duane  Davidson, age 82, of  Maple Grove Township passed away Wednesday, April 1st, 2020 at his farm.

Duane was born in Charlotte, MI on July 24, 1937, the son of the late Keith and Magdelana (Marisch) Davidson. He was raised in the Charlotte area attending country school then graduated from Charlotte Schools in 1956. He was a member of the Charlotte FFA, “the oldest chapter in the State of Michigan”, where he received the DeKalb award as a senior. Duane continued his education taking classes at Michigan State where he studied agriculture.

He was the husband of Katheryn (Harris) Davidson.  The couple was married on August 29, 1959 at the Congregational Church in Eaton Rapids.  Duane and Katheryn began their lives together in the Olivet area, then began farming near Bellevue where they owned several farms throughout the years.  In 1994 they purchased their farm in Maple Grove Township where Duane pursued his passion for farming. In 1981, Duane and Kathryn opened a general store in Assyria which they operated together until 2005 when the build was damaged by fire.

Duane's passion was farming, which was evident in everything he did, everywhere he went, and even the people he talked too.  If he wasn't working his own farm, Duane was interested in what all of his neighbor farmers where planting and harvesting on their farms.

And on the Eighth day God looked down on his planned paradise and said, "I need a caretaker"; so God made a Farmer.

Duane is survived by his two daughters, Kimberlee Davidson, and Cassandra (Brett) Ramey, his sister, Marilyn Perry, grandchildren Amber Cook, Nathan (Tabitha) Davidson, Seneca & Chalet Fosgate (Daniel Lamb), Cheyanne Martin, Shawnee Martin, Matthew & Addison Ramey. 6 great grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Katheryn, his son Walter Davidson, and his siblings Ronald
Davidson and Phyllis (Davidson) Anderson.
