Mr. Edwin L. Foote, 87, of Vermontville passed away on Friday, March 27th, 2020 at Thornapple Manor, in Hastings, MI.
Edwin was born in Vermontville, MI on February 15, 1933, the son of the late Dale K. and Irene M. (Frank) Foote. He was raised in Vermontville area, and attended local schools. Farming was Ed's passion throughout his life. As a young man he learned early the joys and responsibilities of working his family farm with along side his father, transitioning the farm from dairy to crops over several years.
After spending some time with his brother, learning to drive semi truck, Ed purchase his own 18 wheeler and began a career as a truck driver. He loved to drive, and took great pride in the presentation of his truck; it was always immaculate and perfectly maintained. Ed faithfully completed his route to California and back for over 20 years before health issues forced his retirement in 2001.
On April 4, 1953 he was married to Alice (Danby) Foote. The couple made their home together on Ed's family farm where they raised their three daughters together. Life on the farm was the "perfect life" for Ed & his family raising animals, tending to chores together, snowmobiling in the winter. Ed loved old classic country music, and along with his beloved wife Alice the couple would enjoy a night together square dancing to the "classics".
Ed is survived by his beloved wife Alice, his three daughters, Becky (Garry) Knoll, Kelly Jo (Keith) Jones, Lisa (Troy) Huver, his sister, Phyllis (Leo) Tumble, his brother, Raymond (Mary) Foote,
7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
