June Bolton

Mrs. June Bolton, age 88, of Hastings passed away Tuesday, January 8th, 2020 at Hastings Rehabilitation Center.

June was born in Ohio, on August 13, 1931, the daughter of the late Clara (Campbell) Tabor. June was raised in the Hastings area, and attended local schools graduating from Hastings High School in 1949. She continue her education at Kellogg Community College.

She was the widow of Lewis Bolton. The couple was married January 19, 1950 in Angola Indiana,
Lewis and June made their lives together in the Nashville area for many years raising their family together on their Barryville farm. June was a tremendous support on the farm, helping raise dairy and beef cattle, and tending to the family garden, as well as teaching some 4-H classes. Throughout those early years, the farm saw many difficult times and was eventually sold and the couple relocated to the Hastings area.

June used her education and organizational skills as a secretary at Southeastern Elementary School in Hastings before retiring with over 20 years of dedicated service to the school.

While her family was growing, June enjoyed horseback riding, deer hunting in the fall and tending to the families vegetable garden. It was very important to June that she provide her family with fresh home grown food, so she spent countless hours canning the vegetables she grew for her family to enjoy throughout the winter months. After her husband retired, the couple enjoyed traveling to the Upper Peninsula, taking long walks and fishing together on Cloverdale Lake. June has always enjoyed the companionship of her pets, which always included a larger dog, and a lap dog, as well as cats and even small birds.

June was a beautiful Christian woman of faith. The family attended Barryville Methodist Church, where June also taught Sunday school classes while they lived on the farm, and later Cedar Creek Bible church where she has faithfully been a member for over 30 years.

June is survived by her three sons David (Leslie) Bolton, Robert Bolton, Ricky (Melissa) Bolton, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
