Mary Montgomery, age 72, of Nashville passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16th, 2019 at Spectrum Health Hospice & Palliative Care in Grand Rapids, MI.
Mary was born in Hastings, MI on January 18, 1947, the daughter of the late James and Grace (Staup) Heney and Step Father Richard Whitehair. She was raised in the Hastings area and attended local schools.
Through the years Mary was employed at Baby Bliss, Monroe Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI and Michigan Magnetic in Vermontville. She also was a licensed beautician and enjoyed doing hair for her clients.
Mary enjoyed spending time working around her home, and took great pride in keeping it clean and tidy. Throughout the years she enjoyed traveling to Mackinaw Island, spending time in the Smokey Mountains, and visiting Disney World. Mary loved spending time with her daughter & best friend Melissa, shopping, visiting Shipshewana, and going out to eat. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting afghans and doilies.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Melissa Brainard, her brother, Thomas Heney, 2 grandchildren Katelyn & Amanda Brainard, special friends pastor Wendell Bailey, Bev Olson, Joy Deitrick, Mary Chapman, Brenda Ison, and sister in-law Susan Heney, many other beloved friends and relatives.
She is also survived by her adoptive siblings Sueanne Brown, Linda (Herb) Hart, Sheryl Russel, She was preceded in death by her brother James Heney Sr., sister Joyce Englert, sister Judy Bennett, brothers Darrell Hill, and Don Hill Jr.
Funeral Services will be held at The Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville, MI, at 3 PM on Wednesday, November 20th, with Pastor Wendell Bailey officiating.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 2-3 PM at The Daniels Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Spectrum Health Hospice or Lemmen-Holton Cancer Center.
