June VanValkenburg, 79, of Hastings passed away peacefully Saturday, November 2nd, 2019 at Magnum Care of Hastings
June was born in Assyria Township, MI on December 6, 1939, the daughter of the late Vergil and Ruby (Renue) Whipple. She was raised in the Bedford and Battle Creek areas, where she attended local schools
She was the widow of Mr. Amzie VanValkenburg. The couple spent the majority of their lives together in the Redford, MI area where they raised their family together. After retiring from Ford Motor Company they relocated to the Hastings area. Amzie & June had celebrated over 63 years of marriage when he passed away in 2017.
June took great pride in taking care of her family, often placing their needs before her own. Throughout the years, she extended her love to other children whom she cared for part-time along with her own family.
June enjoyed animals, especially her exotic birds, which over the years has included African Grey Parrots, McCauls, and Cockatoos. This love of animals extended beyond birds, to her Spider Monkey, which had its own room in the home. She was an avid collector of dolls & hummingbirds which she proudly displayed in her home. In her spare time June enjoyed taking day trips with her family and friends to the local casinos.
June is also survived by her son John VanValkenburg, five sisters, Carol (Robert) Andrus, Helen Bell, Virgina (Don) VanZandt, Sue (George) Mulder, Beverly (Robert) Conklin, 3 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Amzie, her daughter Crystal VanValkenburg and brother in-law Eldon Blumenschein.
Funeral Services will be held at The Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville, MI, at 1 PM on Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 with pastor Karen Kinney officiating.
The family will receive visitors on hour prior to the funeral service beginning at 12 noon at the Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville MI.
Interment will take place immediately following the funeral service at Striker Cemetery in Hastings, MI.
