Charles (Chuck/Charlie) Warren Lewis, Jr, age 82, of Nashville, MI, passed away April 25, 2019 with family at his side. He leaves behind his beloved wife Carla of 36 years. Chuck’s children, Elizabeth Lewis, Charles III, Carey (Bob) Van Den Top and step son, Bob (Christine) Matheson, his cherished 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Rosalie (Ron) Wesorick, Dorothy Didrichsons, Patrick (Carol) Lewis, Anne (Jake) Spruit., sisters in law Patricia Lewis, and Gayle (Don) Gardner and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Genevieve, his brothers Kenneth and Michael, brother in law Juris Didrichsons, and sister in law Karen Lewis, sister in law Janice Mangold and his first wife Sally (Tuffelmire).
He was the eldest of seven children. He started his career early following his dad’s footsteps as a pressman at The Grand Rapids Press, retiring after 26 years and continuing as a pressman at Detroit News and Lansing State Journal. Chuck was an avid sportsman. He loved sharing his hunting and fishing knowledge with his grandchildren and others. His absolute favorite holiday was Halloween , he enjoyed seeing the smiles and excitements from the kids. Always a quick wit and a story to share, a tribute to his Irish heritage. Chuck and Carla enjoyed traveling through the Southwestern states and loved the laid back lifestyle.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Thornapple Manor, for taking such excellent care of Chuck.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday May 2, 2019 from 6-8pm, with a Rosary service beginning at 8pm at The Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville, MI
Memorial mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Cyril Catholic Church, Nashville, MI, at 11AM on Friday May 3, with Father Stephen Phillip Officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Michigan of Natural Resource/Wildlife Habitat Improvement. Envelopes available and the funeral home.
