Nicole Robertson, age 52, of Nashville passed away Monday, December 24th, 2018. Nicole passed after battling cancer for over five years. However, she did not lose her battle with cancer. She lived graciously, courageously, and inspired laughter with all. In many, many ways, by inspiring and teaching us, she won her battle in very important ways. She was a wonderful role model, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend right up to the very end.
Nicole was born in Washington D.C. on February 25, 1966, the daughter of Frank and Marie Picoli.
She was raised in a military family, so as a young lady, she moved all over the country and even lived briefly in Panama. In the spring of 1986, Nicole joined the United States Army where she served for four years being Honorably Discharged in 1990. During her time of service, Nicole received two Army Achievement Medals, a Good Conduct Medal, and the Expert Rifleman Badge.
During her marriage to Tom Blodgett she was gifted with four beautiful daughters who carry on her beauty and strength: Sadie (Cory) Martin, Tyler (Joshua) Jacobs, Bailey Blodgett, and Katie Blodgett. As she began a family, she longed for her daughters to have a stable place they could call home. The "Busy Bee" farm on Cloverdale road became that home. As Nicole had a talent for understanding animals, she trained her own horses on the family's farm.
Nicole had a giving spirit. She used her passion for helping others to serve as a foster parent for many young teens throughout the years who needed a place to grow while they found direction in their lives. Her ability to give herself to others can be seen in every aspect of her life, including the strength she passed to her girls. More than anyone you’ll ever know, she had a wonderful way with people; she made people feel wanted and loved.
On October 31, 2011, she was married to Tim Robertson. The couple shared a passion for repurposing antiques, rescuing animals, and experiencing life. Their experiences led them to go swimming with dolphins, zip lining in Hawaii, and fishing—Nicole’s favorite hobby. They also enjoyed spending the summer months riding their Harley Davidson Motorcycle. In 2012 they made the journey to the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, riding their motorcycle the entire distance.
Nicole is survived by her beloved husband Tim, her siblings Don, George, Regina, and Jocelyn, her daughters, previously mentioned and her grandchildren Corbin, Thomas, & Josephine Martin, and Xavier Jacobs.
A celebration of Nicole's life will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018, at the Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville from 4pm until 6pm.
Following the service, the family will receive friends and family at the Waldorf Brew Pub for a light dinner, fellowship, music, and playing cards.
