Mr. Bernard Weeks, age 85, of Hastings passed away Wednesday, November 28th, 2018 with family at his side.

Bernard was born in Nashville, Michigan on April 3, 1933, the son of the late Donald and Cecile (VanSyckle) Weeks.

He was raised in the Hastings/Nashville area and attended local schools graduating from Hastings High School in 1952.

He was the husband of Norma (Bennett) Weeks. The couple met while in school, and were married on June 28, 1952. They began their lives together in the Hastings area, and 1965 purchased Bernard's family farm where they settled to raise their family.

Bernard loved Country Gospel music, and used his talent in several traveling gospel bands, and was a member of the Woodland Gospel Singers for many years. Bernard had many hobbies and interests and enjoyed tinkering in his shop working with wood. He also loved aviation and antique cars. Bernard had a gift of using his hands, and spent his working career as a machinist at E.W. Bliss in Hastings retiring in 1988. He later joined the Hastings Area School in the maintenance department for 5 years.

Along with his beloved wife Norma, the couple enjoyed traveling. In the late 1950's along with several other couples Bernard and Norma rode their Harley Davidson Motorcycle all the way to Florida. Through the years, they have traveled all over the United States, including Hawaii, and taken several cruises. Music has always been a large part of Bernard's life, he & Norma would often entertain at the Maple Leaf Grange Hall where Bernard would play his guitar, and Norma would sing.
