Life Story for Robert DeCamp

Robert  DeCamp
Mr. Robert DeCamp, age 83, of Nashville passed away Sunday, May 8th, 2016 at his home.

Robert was born in Nashville, Michigan on January 21, 1933, the son of the late Douglas and Wilma (Fuller) DeCamp.

He was in the Nashville area and attended local schools graduating from W.K. Kellogg in 1952. Robert joined the United States Navy and after completing his service he continued his education at Coyne Electrical School in Chicago. He was the husband of Arlene ( Gaylor) DeCamp. The couple was married, August 15, 1953 in Nashville, MI. Robert & Arlene spent the beginning of their marriage in the Boston and Chicago area for the Navy and College. They later returned to the Nashville area where they raised their family together. Robert was employed as an Electrician/Supervisor at Kelloggs for over 30 years before retiring in 1990. Robert enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and camping as a family. While their family was young they enjoyed camping together in Ludington, Cadillac and Yankee Springs State Parks. For two weeks each summer they loaded the camper and traveled all over the United States. In his spare time Robert enjoyed collecting coins and license plates. His collection of license plates extends as far back as the 1920's. After Robert retired the couple enjoyed spending time together wintering in Haines City and Davenport Florida.

Robert is survived by by his beloved wife Arlene, his daughter, Julie (Larry) Wilhelm, his sister, Barb (Arlen) Heise, two brothers, Fred (Lois) DeCamp, Doug (Margaret) DeCamp, grandchildren Joshua (Kim) DeCamp, Jesse (Shelby) DeCamp, Jordon (Alex) DeCamp, Tim (Sydney) Wilhelm, Adam Wilhelm, great grandchildren Alexa & Sage DeCamp

He was preceded in death by his sons Bradley and Bryan DeCamp.

Memorial Service will be held at The Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville, MI, at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 13th, The family will receive visitors on Friday May 13th one hour prior to the funeral service beginning at 10:00 AM.

Interment will take place privately at Wilcox Cemetery Nashville, MI.

In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society for Julie Wilhelm’s Relay for Life team.
