Life Story for Naomi M. Taylor (Froats)

Naomi M. Taylor (Froats)
Naomi M. Taylor

Mrs. Naomi M. Taylor, 81, of Hastings passed away Saturday, July 5th, 2014 at The Laurels Of Bedford, in Battle Creek, MI.

Naomi was born in Arcadia, MI on February 5, 1933, the daughter of the late Edward E. and Etta (May) Froats. She was raised in Honor Michigan, where she attended local schools graduating from Central Lake High School in 1950. She continued her education by attending Great Lakes Bible Institute.

She was the wife of Pastor Robert Taylor. The couple were married June 28th 1952 in Central Lake Michigan. The couple began their ministry together serving in small churches throughout the Northern Michigan. Their ministry brought them to the Charlotte area, then to the Nashville area where they pastored the Assembly of God Church in Nashville for over 27 years. While pastoring in Nashville Naomi assisted her husband in building a new church building which is still used today. Her passion was working at the church where she served as the choir director, church secretary, Sunday school teacher. When she wasn't working as a Drivers License Secretary for the Michigan Secretary of State, Naomi was dedicating her spare time and talents to the church. She retired from her position with the State of Michigan in 1991 after 27 years of service. When Robert retired, the couple traveled extensively building churches, campgrounds, and other church projects all over the country. Naomi also enjoyed reading, and always made sure the family had a summer vacation at Gun Lake.

Naomi is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years Robert, two daughters, Roberta (Dale) Thompson, Rita (Eugene) Miller, two sons Ronald (Billie) Taylor, Richard (Lynda) Taylor, two sisters, Lois Crain, Ruth Madison, 12 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Jerome Froats

Funeral Services will be held at The Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville, MI, at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 10th, with Pastor Allen Leonhardt officiating.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday July 9th from 6-8 PM at The Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Hastings Assembly of God Church building fund.
