Condolence: My sincere sympathy to Steve's wife, Carol and sister, Bonita and other family. Steve always included me on any geneology updates he came across for the Trick/Garrett family. He even took time to take my cousin, Barbara, her granddaughter, Amy and me around to various cemeteries when she was visiting from Nebraska a few years ago. He spent so much time showing us where various relatives were buried and giving us history as well. I so appreciated him taking the time and interest. My mother was his father's cousin and they worked together at Kelloggs too. She was so sad when Archie lost his life in the farm accident. My mother and his mother went to Europe together many years ago. It warmed my heart to read the many condolences from people who were friends with Steve and worked with Steve; he obviously was a very special man and appreciated and loved by many.

Condolence: To the family of Steve,
My deepest sympathy. My mother Barbara Lester Lupton & her granddaughter, my niece Amy Sinkevich, went to Michigan a few years back, researching the family history & finding gravesites. Steve was so kind, driving them to the cemetery & also doing some on line searches of his own. They both enjoyed his company so much. So very sorry for your loss.

Condolence: I first met Steve on a Binder Park Zoomobile program about thirty years ago. His job was to present a very large snake to a group of kids! He spent many days on the Zoomobile sharing his passion for wildlife. Steve also took me "under his wing" and taught me "birdwatching". Steve and I had many, many walks at Binder Park Zoo documenting the birds in the park. He instilled a passion for birdwatching in me that I carry to this day. I will certainly miss him at the Baker Sanctuary watching him get others excited about Sandhill Cranes. My condolences to Carol, his family and friends. He will be missed.

Condolence: I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to all of Steven’s family. For right now, there’s no detour around grief, no shortcut through mourning. However, 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us, “... power beyond what is normal...”, to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry or that we forget. It means we recover. We recover because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28 which says, “... all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out...”. Jesus was referring to the resurrection. That is our amazing hope! The Bible likens our hope to an anchor. Just like an anchor stabilizes a ship, our hope stabilizes us and keeps us from drowning in overwhelming sadness. One way that God comforts us today is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God of comfort be your comfort now, during this time of sorrow. For the Bible’s answers to life’s big questions please visit JW.org.

Condolence: I had the pleasure of working with Steve starting in 1982 at WUHQ. He always came through when there was an engineering issue during newscasts.
His memory will live on through all the houseplants that he gifted me over the years.
Miss you Steve

Condolence From: Mark & Sheila Crawford
Condolence: I met Steve in 1980 when I joined the team at WUHQ-TV 41. He was genuine, hardworking, fun-loving, and as mentioned by several others - was generous with his time and talents, literally willing to help anyone in any way.
It was also my privilege to spend a good amount of time away from work with Steve. He was 'sneaky smart' . . . we took literally hundreds of trivia quizzes together and I am not sure that I ever won. He was also terrific to my family: a favorite of my wife Sheila, and warm and generous to our three children.
I can think of few people who walked more kindly and gently on this earth.

Condolence: I first met Steve in 1971 when I had my first day on the job at WUHQ TV on Dickman Road, Battle Creek. I worked with him for the next 40 years. This was a person who would do anything for you. He was friendly to all and tried his best to help anyone he could. I remember good times, like when we all got in a van together and went to the Marshall HAM fest every March. Also the bad, like the accident his father had on the farm that trajectly took his life. We remained friends after his retirement from WOOD TV. We didn't get to visit as often, I lived in Grand Rapids and He in Battle Creek, we did get together many times for our WUHQ reunion lunches. I think it was in September, the last time we got together.

My condolences to the Belson family, his brothers and sister and Carol, He will truly be missed by Sue and I.
