Life Story for Royce DeMond Jr.

Royce DeMond Jr.

Mr. Royce DeMond Jr., age 70, passed away peacefully at his home with this family at his side on Sunday, January 14, 2018.

Royce was born in Hastings, MI on May 7, 1947, the son of the late Royce and Roberta (DeCamp) DeMond.

He was raised in the Nashville area and attended Maple Valley High School. During his younger days Royce spent his time growing up at the roller rink on Thornapple Lake that his parents owned and operated for over 30 years. After their retirement Royce took over the business during the 80's and continued its operation well into the 90's. Royce loved pyrotechnics, which led to the creation of W.D. Enterprises, Royce's first venture into the commercial fireworks industry. The company began with his friend Marty Warner and his wife Sue selling fireworks from the back of the Royce's station wagon. The business evolved into Family Fireworks which eventual built and sold custom fireworks all over the world. Royce was a proud member of the Pyrotechnics Guild International, National Fireworkds Association, The Masonic Lodge, NRA, and the Woodland Eagles.

During his spare time, Royce enjoyed spending time with the American Mountain Men companions, camping and living in the rustic outdoors. He also enjoyed traveling, to Arizona during the winter months, fishing and producing maple syrup.

Royce was married to Joan (Moore) DeMond, and then and Sue Ellen (Blough) DeMond, and is survived by his very good friend Tina Horrighan

Royce is survived by his three daughters, Patty (Matt Sr.) DeBolt, Annette (Terry) Hendricks, Roberta Hoffman, his son,Nole DeMond, sister, Judy (Terry) Lancaster, brother, Ron (Diana) DeMond, his
grandchildren Matthew (Harmoni) DeBolt, Jr. Ashley (Brad) Hayes, Sarah DeBolt, Amber Hoffman, Christina (Jeremy) Orman, Elizabeth Hendricks, Darrin (Breann) Hoffman, Rachel (Jacob) Huffman, Travis Hoffman, Liam (Cassie) DeMond, and great grandchildren, Kameron Hayes, Logan Connor & Hayden Orman, Natalie, Mattie, Wyatt, Ellison & Ryland Hoffman, Kaydence, Blake & Jessa Huffman, and several beloved nieces and nephews,

Funeral Services will be held at The Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville, MI, at 1 PM on Wednesday, January 17, with Pastor Rick Foster and Todd Kidder officiating.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday 6-8 PM and Wednesday 11-1 PM at The Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville, MI.

Royce will be interned in his private mausoleum at Royce DeMond's God's Acre Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or the American Cancer Society.
