Woodrow ""Woody""  Orr

Woodrow "Woody" Orr

Mr. Woodrow "Woody" Orr, age 61, of Battle Creek passed away Saturday, November 4th, 2017 at The University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI.

Woody was born in Battle Creek, MI on March 9, 1956, the son of the Woody Sr. and Dorothy
(Scott) Orr.

He was self employed and owned Orr Excavating for 40 years. He later retired from the City of Battle Creek as a heavy equipment mechanic. Woody enjoyed working outside and in the garage spending time with his family, camping throughout Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

He was the husband of Dixie Orr. The couple was married on April 20, 1974 in their home. They spend a large portion of the their lives in that exact home, where they raised their family together. Woody & Dixie began their relationship as grade school friends; a relationship which grew into high school sweet hearts and eventually over 43 years of marriage. Woody & Dixie where inseparable, and truly enjoyed each others company, whether traveling to purchase new equipment, or simply reading a book while he worked, her company was something Woody always cherished.

Woody is survived by his beloved wife Dixie, their 3 sons, Charles (Stephanie) Orr, Curtis (Corey) Orr, Spencer (Heather) Orr, grandchildren Brenden, Haley, Jacey, Jolie, Dustin, Branden (Carlye) 2 great grand children, Chase & Aspen, his sister Marie (Steve) Kraft, brother Paul (Carole) Orr, his mother Dorothy Orr, and many nieces and nephews who loved hime dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father Woodrow Orr Sr., and his brother & sister in-law Scott (Judy) Orr

A casual celebration of life gathering will be held throughout the afternoon at the Convis Township Hall 19500 15 Mile Road Marshall, MI 49068 on Sunday November 12, 2017 from 1-3 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family as requested memorial contributions be made to any charity that benefits disabled children.
