Life Story for Mark Pittelkow

Mark Pittelkow

Mr. Mark Pittelkow, age 63, of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away peacefully on October 24, 2017 at his home.

Mark was born in Battle Creek, MI on February 16, 1954, the son of the late Norman and Mary (Haughton) Pittelkow.

He was raised in the Hastings area and attended local schools graduating from Hastings High School in 1972. He continued education at Michigan Tech where he studied Engineering.

Mark was the husband of Penny (Thayer) Pittelkow. The couple was married June 2, 1998 in Douglas, Michigan on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. They made their home together in Assyria Township.

Mark worked as an Iron Worker for Schweitzer Construction retiring as the Superintendent of Iron Work in 2005 after 22 years of service. After retiring, he kept busy working part time for the Iron Workers Union.

Mark enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, canoeing, and white water rafting, He traveled to West Virginia with his children on a white water rafting trip, as well as Michigan's Upper Peninsula. During the winter months he and his beloved wife Penny spent their time in Florida, and traveling the Southern and Western United States. They would head North to be with family as the weather began to warm. For the past several years, when home, Mark and Penny have attended Nashville Baptist Church. Mark was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, and enjoyed watching them in spring training while they were in Florida. Each year, the kids would take Mark to a Tigers game for Father's Day. Most of all, Mark loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife Penny, two daughters, Lindsey (Sean) Schafer, Lacy (Josh) Boulter, two sons, Troy Pittelkow, Brian (Abby) Neil, two step daughters, Rachel Shepard, Jennifer Smith, a step son,Christopher (Stephanie) Smith, three brothers, Matt (Meredith) Pittelkow, Brett (Kathy) Pittelkow, Lance (Lynne) Pittelkow, and his 11 grand children.

A Memorial Service will be held at The Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville, MI, at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 27, with Pastor Lester DeGroot officiating. The family will receive visitors on Thursday October 26, 2017 from 6-8 PM at The Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville.

There will be a time of fellowship and luncheon immediately following the funeral service at Nashville Baptist Church.
