Life Story for Jean Louise Newton

Jean Louise Newton
Jean Louise Newton

Miss Jean Louise Newton, age 71, of Hastings passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at her home.

Jean was born in Hastings, MI on May 20, 1945, the daughter of Carroll and Edith (Tobias) Newton. She was raised in the Delton area and attended local schools graduating from Delton High School 1964.

Jean's employment included Hausbeck Pickles in Eaton Rapids, Andy's Restaurant in Charlotte, Bob's Restaurant in Lake Odessa, and Felpaush Food Center in Hastings.

Many Fridays Jean would take the Barry County Transit into Hastings to play bingo and spend time with her friends at the Commission On Aging (COA). Jean enjoyed the challenge of a good jigsaw puzzle and had an incredible ability to complete the most difficult puzzles long after others had given up. Jean loved to be around little babies, and had the ability to calm the most fussy baby simply by holding and rocking them. She also enjoyed dancing and listening to old country music and she was an occasional volunteer at Thornapple Manor in Hastings, polishing the fingernails for the lady residents.

Jean is survived by her mother Edith, three sisters, Judy (Don) Wooer, June (Bob) Cribley, Joyce (Alan Hanson) Snow, a brother, Darrell (Kathy) Newton, sister in-law Mary Newton Earl, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dad Carroll, brother Dwight Newton, Niece Theresa Harwood, and Nephew Jesse Snow.

Funeral Services will be held at The Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville, MI, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2016 with Pastor Gary Newton officiating.

The family will receive visitors on Friday October 28, 2016 from 6-8 PM at the Daniels Funeral Home Nashville, MI.

There will be a time of fellowship and luncheon immediately following the funeral service at Grace Community Church in Nashville.

Interment will take place following the luncheon at Dowling Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Barry County Commission On Aging or Barry County Transit.
