Sidney R. Phillips

Miss Sidney R. Phillips, age 17, of Hastings, MI, passed away Thursday, May 5th, 2016.Sidney was born in Grand Rapids, MI on December 21, 1998, the daughter of Dan Phillips and Kerri Tobias. She was raised in the Nashville and Hastings area and had attended Hastings High School. Sidney was a 4-H member for several years where she participated in dog agility and obedience. Sidney loved to see the full potential of an ATV, snowmobile, or anything with a motor! But her true passion was her friends; she loved them all deeply, and was a tremendous support for those who needed her. Sidney was preceded in death by her Grandparents Wanda and Ed Marks.Sidney is survived by her parents Dan Phillips, Kerri Tobias (Todd Mesecar), sister Danielle (Ron) Kauffman, Grandparents Roger and Sheila Tobias, her Aunts Angela (Jerry) Rademacher, Heather Tobias, Rune’ Smak, Marlene (Bob) Bodary, and Uncle Mark Goodrich.The family will receive visitors on Tuesday May 10th from 4-7 PM, and again on Wednesday May 11th one hour prior to the funeral service at The Daniels Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at The Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville, MI, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 11th, with Pastor Daniel Smith officiating. A time of fellowship and luncheon will be held immediately following the funeral service at Thornapple Valley Church in Hastings, MI.In Lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Sidney Rashell’s Gift. The family’s hope is to set up a scholarship fund to honor her love of animals through 4-H.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville.
