Life Story for Richard V ""Dick"" Elliston

Richard V. (Dick) Elliston

Mr. Richard V. "Dick" Elliston age 77, of Nashville, MI. passed away Friday, June 14th, 2013 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, MI.

Richard was born in Nashville, Michigan on October 16, 1935, the son of the late Vern B. and Iza (Jarrard) Elliston Decker. He was raised in the Nashville area and attended local schools graduating from Nashville High School in 1954

He was the husband of Lois (Phillips) Elliston. The couple was married on October 24, 1954. They made their home together in the Nashville area where they raised their family.

After graduating high school, Dick began work at Kelloggs. During his time there he held several positions but primarily worked as a fork lift operator which he did for 39 years. He also drove school bus for Maple Valley Schools for 13 years.

Dick's life's pleasure was his family. He loved camping with them, whether it be in Ludington, at Big Knob Campground in Michigan's Upper Peninsula or back at the family pond. He enjoyed being outside using his John Deere tractor while he did his yard work. Each month Dick & Lois looked forward to the "cousins" dinner which was time for Dick to catch up with his extended family and enjoy their fellowship.

Richard is survived by his wife of 59 years Lois, two daughters, Cheryl (Johnny) Hartwell, Cindy (Gary) Miller, his son,Rich (Linda) Elliston, his brother, Larry (Joan) Elliston, a step sister, Ardeen (Robert) Varney, three step brothers, John (Judy) Decker, Larry (June) Decker, Elton Decker,
5 Grandchildren, Christopher (Billie Jo) Hartwell, Brent ( Cassie) Hartwell, Leah Elliston, Jennifer Elliston, Lucas Miller, 3 Great Grandchildren, Austin Hartwell, Alison Hartwell, and Abeni Gardner,

He was preceded in death by his brother Lowell Elliston, and Step brothers Alfred & Robert Decker.

Funeral Services will be held at The Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville, MI, at 1 PM on Tuesday, June 18th, with Pastor Nancy Bitterling officiating.

The family will receive visitors on hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday beginning at 12:00 Noon until service time at The Daniels Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions can be made to the local Wish Upon A Star program.
